- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against Michigan 2-0.
- The Red Raiders committed their first error of the season on the first play of the first inning when Jeremy Mayo dropped a ball at first base. Mayo, Tech's everyday catcher, was making his debut at first base.
- Left fielder Michael Reed set a new career high with five hits and was just a double shy of hitting for the cycle. His previous career high was four last season against New Mexico on March 31.
- Designated hitter Scott LeJeune drove in a career-high five runs in the game, surpassing his previous high of three.
- Junior third baseman Nick Popescu posted a season-high four hits along with two RBIs.
