Texas Tech falls to 8-10 on the season and has now lost five consecutive games and eight of its last nine.
Tonight's 13-7 win by Texas State evens the all-time series between the two schools at 6-6. The Bobcats have won each of the last four games in the series dating back to 2003.
Texas Tech committed two defensive miscues this evening and now has 22 errors on the season for a .969 fielding percentage.
Sophomore catcher Kevin Whitehead hit a two-run home run in the fourth that tied the game at 4-4. The home run was his second of the year and the fourth of his career.
Jamodrick McGruder and Stephen Hagen extended their hit streaks to four games tonight as McGruder went 2-for-4 while Hagen went 2-for-5.
Hagen wore the No. 9 jersey tonight in honor of Mark Austry who passed away on Sunday after collapsing at the finish line of the Rock N' Roll Half-Marathon in Dallas. Austry played three seasons at first base for the Red Raiders between 1998 and 2000.
