- Texas Tech falls to 8-10 on the season and has now lost five consecutive games and eight of its last nine.
- Tonight's 13-7 win by Texas State evens the all-time series between the two schools at 6-6. The Bobcats have won each of the last four games in the series dating back to 2003.
- Texas Tech committed two defensive miscues this evening and now has 22 errors on the season for a .969 fielding percentage.
- Sophomore catcher Kevin Whitehead hit a two-run home run in the fourth that tied the game at 4-4. The home run was his second of the year and the fourth of his career.
- Jamodrick McGruder and Stephen Hagen extended their hit streaks to four games tonight as McGruder went 2-for-4 while Hagen went 2-for-5.
- Hagen wore the No. 9 jersey tonight in honor of Mark Austry who passed away on Sunday after collapsing at the finish line of the Rock N' Roll Half-Marathon in Dallas. Austry played three seasons at first base for the Red Raiders between 1998 and 2000.
