- Texas Tech now stands at 24-20 overall and 10-8 in the Big 12 (third place).
- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against Kansas 28-16 and the Red Raiders are now 12-9 all-time at Hoglund Ballpark.
- Texas Tech wins its first series against Kansas at Hoglund Ballpark since the 2004 season when the Red Raiders earned a three-game sweep.
- Texas Tech hit a school and Big 12 record seven doubles in the top of the second inning to help build an 8-0 lead over the Jayhawks. The Red Raiders tied the school and Big 12 record with 12 doubles in the game. Tech previously held the Big 12 record with 12 against Valley City State back in 1998.
- Texas Tech has now won four consecutive Big 12 series for the first time since the 2004 season. Additionally, Tech has won two road series in the Big 12 for the first time since 2004.
- Texas Tech established season highs in both runs scored (21) and hits (24). The last time Tech scored 20-plus runs in a game was in a 21-8 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 18, 2008.
- Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer improves to 49-52 overall and to 22-23 in Big 12 play.
- Junior RHP Chad Bettis set a new school record for the most saves in a career with three innings of relief work. He now has 15 to his credit and that surpasses Brad Ralston who earned 14 between 1996 and 1999.
- Junior catcher Jeremy Mayo hit three doubles in today's game and that marked a first since Taylor Ashby did so at Kansas State on April 1, 2007.
- Freshman second baseman Jamodrick McGruder went 4-for-5 with a career-high six RBIs in this series clinching win over Kansas.
