Women's Tennis Set for Oklahoma Invitational

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech women's tennis squad continues their fall season at the Oklahoma Fall Invitational on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman, Oklahoma, beginning on Friday and continuing on Saturday and Sunday. Play will begin each day at 9 a.m.
The Lady Raiders will compete in four singles and two doubles. The two doubles pairings are Kelsy Garland and Samantha Adams with Elizabeth Ullathorne and Nikki Sanders together.
Tournament organizers have scheduled four singles matches and three doubles matches for each player throughout the weekend. There will be four flights of 16-draw singles, and two flights of 16-draw doubles.
Team captain, Kelsy Garland and Samantha Adams make their first doubles appearance since claiming the 2010 ITA Summer Circuit doubles title held July 9-12 in Abilene, Texas. Garland, a Coronado High graduate, is No. 7 on the all-time career singles victories list with 55 wins and is No. 7 on the career doubles list with 57 victories. Adams claimed the 2010 UIL 5A State Championship mixed-doubles title for the New Braunfels Unicorns with her brother, Harrison.
Ullathorne, a sophomore from the United Kingdom, was 13-15 in singles play last season at three positions and was 6-4 in her final ten singles matches of the season.
Sanders, the freshman from Ontario, California, will be making her first appearance as a Lady Raider. As a high school senior, she was listed as a 4-star recruit by Tennis Recruiting.Net and is ranked No. 60 nationally by the United States Tennis Association.
In addition to the Lady Raiders, the tournament will feature players from Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock, DePaul, North Texas, Oklahoma State, OU, Portland, SMU, Tulsa and Wichita State. Seven of the 11 teams finished last season ranked nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
