Lady Raiders Dominate First Meet

"This was a good opener for both the men and the women," head coach Jon Murray said after the race. "We wanted to see what kind of shape we had off our summer training and this showed us that."
The two new Lady Raiders led their teammates in the first race of the season. Rose Tanui won the race with a time of 17:02.84 to pace the field. Caroline Jepleting was right behind her in a 17:07.76.
Winrose Karunde crossed the line in 17:21.72 in third place while Purity Biwott was fourth clocking a 17:42.03. Winrose's twin sister, Caroline Karunde, ran a 17:56.88 and placed fifth.
The sixth place Lady Raider was Michelle Guzman in a time of 18:08.66. Kaci Westervelt (19:02.27) and Meagan Willingham (19:27.93) finished in eighth and 10th, respectively.
The Lady Raiders scored a perfect 15 points to beat Wayland Baptist's 49.
The Red Raiders placed second to Wayland Baptist with a score of 23-32.
Gilbert Limo was the top runner with a time of 20:52.40 to place second. Silas Kemboi crossed the line in fourth place with a 21:22.40 on the clock. Finishing in seventh place was Nathan Milles running a 22:00.00.
Three Red Raiders finished in a group as Zach Dawson (22:27.20), Samuel Bushong (22:32.50) and Reid Strong (22:39.90) went ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively.
"Many ran faster than this same race last year which is showing great progress," Murray said. "I am excited about the prospect of the remaining part of the season."
