LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders are on the road for the first time in conference play on Saturday when they take on the Kansas State Wildcats in a Big 12 Network game with a 12:30 p.m. tip.
Mitch Holthus will deliver the play-by-play and Rich Zvosec will provide the game analysis. In the Lubbock area, the game will air on AT&T U-verse (34 and 702), DISH Network (34), Suddenlink (10), and over-the-air on KJTV-TV.
Mark Finkner will call the courtside action against the Wildcats along with analyst Andy Ellis on the Texas Tech Sports Network flagship radio station Double T 104.3.
Kansas State leads the series, 13-12, since the initial meeting between the two teams on December 6, 1955. The Red Raiders hold a 7-5 edge in Lubbock and on neutral courts, 2-1. K-State leads the series in Manhattan, 7-3.
The Wildcats completed the nonconference portion of the season with a 12-3 record. Kansas State is 9-1 at home, 2-0 on the road, and 1-2 on neutral courts. K-State is 0-2 in Big 12 games. The Wildcats lost their opening game at Oklahoma State, 76-62, before returning home and losing to Colorado on Tuesday, 74-66.
After seventeen games, KSU (12-5) has averaged 74.4 points per game while allowing their opponents 64.5 points per game. K-State has three players averaging double figures for the season. Jacob Pullen leads his squad with 17.7 points per game. Rodney McGruder averages 11.9 points per outing and is their top rebounder with 6.45 rebounds per contest. Curtis Kelly follows with 10.3 points per outing.
In their last conference game against Texas, Texas Tech continued to be plagued by poor shooting and lost, 83-52. Although the Red Raiders took six more shots than the Longhorns, the Red Raiders were 23 of 59 (.390) from the field while the Longhorns were 29 of 53 (.547). Texas Tech was 0-11 from beyond the three-point line.
Robert Lewandowski led the Red Raiders with 13 points. Javarez Willis came off the bench to score 10 points.
After seventeen games, Texas Tech (8-9) is averaging 73.9 points per game and allowing their opponents 74.0 points per game. The Red Raiders have four players averaging double figures. Mike Singletary leads Texas Tech with 13.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Brad Reese has dropped in 12.0 points per game. John Roberson contributes 11.3 points each game, and David Tairu follows with 10.4 points per outing.
After their game in Manhattan, Texas Tech continues Big 12 play on the road with a game at Oklahoma on January 18. The Red Raiders are back at the United Spirit Arena on January 22 against Nebraska.
