LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team returned to the gym Tuesday afternoon for the start of spring workouts, the squad's first under new head coach Don Flora.
While the day served as Flora's first with his new team, it was also the first day of workouts for Tech's returning 12 players since the 2010 season ended in late November. Being such, Tech went back to the basics with work on blocking as well as a serving period at the end of the one-hour workout.
"Day one was tremendous to see these athletes begin to understand the demands of this process," Flora said. "I was happy with their sense of wanting to learn as well as their effort throughout the period."
The Red Raiders are allowed two hours each of instructional workouts during the week according to NCAA guidelines regarding offseason workouts. Tech will resume individual workouts this Thursday.
