Postgame Quotes
Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys Jan. 29, 2011 Game 22
On how Texas Tech has been playing - "I don't think we really worry about the doubters and the outsiders, and the people that were talking about us. We are a close-knit group and we stay together so as long as we know what we can do. All we have to do is fix mistakes and we are on a roll. We're playing together."
On the way Texas Tech played at the start of the second half - "We kind of got down, got a little satisfied, and they came and made a run. However, we have got to give that team a lot of credit. They are a really good team and they have a lot of good players on their team who were making plays. We played good defense and they were making plays, but that just showed the heart of this team. We kept fighting and we never quit and won the game."
On winning against OSU - "It was really big. OSU is a solid team, and we got a good win against a good team tonight."
On winning three in a row - "Yes, three in a row feels really good. We were in last place and now we've won three in a row and we are back in the mix of things."
On guarding every position so far this season - "I just guard whoever coach (Knight) tells me to guard. I just do it to help the team win. So if it's an advantage for us to have me guard somebody, I'll gladly do it and take the challenge."
On Texas Tech's strategy against OSU - "We just didn't want Page to go off. He made some big shots in the second half but we contained him enough to get the win."
Texas Tech Head Coach Pat Knight
On winning three games in a row - "When you win three games in a row in this league, you have to be playing pretty pleased. But, then again, when you go back and look at the game, we made some bad mistakes that almost cost us the game. But what they are doing now is that after they make a mistake or someone takes a shot at us we are able to bounce back. We've talked about it before in press conferences, the bad body language and all that, and that's kind of gone. These guys have fought through these last three games and that's good."
On Texas Tech's defense - "I thought it was good. We fouled too much at times, but
I thought as a coach playing Oklahoma State, you have to be careful, because you are going to have some high scoring games in this league. That doesn't mean your defense is bad, it's just the style of play. So you have to be careful as a coach. You can't put a set number on teams you play. We look to see if we did get some stops in a row and did we get some stops when it counted. We have the last couple of games."
On the turnover by Texas Tech at the end of the game - "I didn't want to lose it on a dumb play that we made because these guys deserve to win this game and they had the lead much of the game. We did make some mental lapses at the end ,but I was just hoping they would keep fighting and they did."
On Free Throw Shooting and causing fouls - "When things are going good for you with your offense ,you want to get to the line. Our guys listened and drove the lane and got to the free throw line, I thought it was going to be a problem for awhile because we started missing some when we could have extended the lead."
