Basketball Conference Play Begins Saturday

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders begin conference play on Saturday as they host the Baylor Bears at 1:00 p. m. with broadcast coverage provided by ESPNU.
Dan McLaughlin will deliver the play-by-play and Sean Farnham will provide the game analysis for ESPNU. In the Lubbock area, the game will air on AT&T U-verse (605), DISH Network (141 and 148), and DirecTV (208).
Mark Finkner will call the courtside action against the Bears along with analyst Andy Ellis on the Texas Tech Sports Network flagship radio station Double T 104.3. SIRIUS Radio will carry the game on Channel 126.
Texas Tech leads the series, 74-46. The initial meeting between the two teams was on January 2, 1937. The Red Raiders hold a 41-14 winning margin in Lubbock and a 6-2 edge on neutral courts. The Bears have a 30-27 edge in Waco. Baylor has won the last two meetings.
The Bears completed the nonconference portion of the season with a 10-3 record. They are 9-0 at home and 1-3 on neutral courts. Today's game with the Red Raiders is the first road game for Baylor.
After thirteen games, the Bears have averaged 74.8 points per game while allowing their opponents 58.3 points per game. Baylor has three players averaging double figures for the season. Lace Darius Dunn leads the Bears with 23.4 points per game. Quincy Acy follows with 14.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest. Perry Jones III has averaged 11.8 points and 7.5 rebounds for the season.
In their final nonconference game of the season on January 4, the Red Raiders downed the Hornets of Delaware State, 79-60.
The DSU Hornets had three players in double figures with Jay Threatt and Alibaba Odd each scoring 12 points. Marques Oliver added 11 points.
Brad Reese led the Red Raiders with 21 points. Mike Singletary dropped in 12 points. Jaye Crockett earned his first start as a Red Raider and registered the first double-double of his career with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
After fifteen games, Texas Tech (8-7) is averaging 76.3 points per game and allowing their opponents 73.6 points per game. The Red Raiders have five players averaging double figures. Mike Singletary leads the Red Raiders with 13.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Brad Reese is second on the squad with 13.3 points per contest. David Tairu posts 10.3 points per outing. John Robertson is averaging 11.8 points per game while Robert Lewandowski adds 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
After today's game with Baylor, the Red Raiders continue Big 12 play when they host Texas on Tuesday, January 11 at 6:00 p.m.
