
Tanui Wins Third Race of Season

Texas Tech's Rose Tanui won her third-straight race of the season at the Grass Route Festival - Grand Prix held in Austin, Texas.
"It was a very unique race to run the race under lights," head coach Jon Murray said. "Rose (Tanui) ran a great race and won it very easily. I was proud of her and Caroline (Jepleting) and the things we did at the front of the race. We are in good condition and just need to keep working to get better."
Tanui ran a 21:13.4 to take the victory with teammate Caroline Jepleting three second behind her in second place. Jepleting crossed the line in 21:16.9.
Purity Biwott placed sixth for her third top 10 finish of the season. She ran the course in a time of 22:06.8. Devin Bailey ran a 23:05.0 for 20th and Rachel Folan finished in 32nd with a time of 23:35.7.
Texas won the women's race with 27 points compared to the Lady Raiders 61.
Reid Strong was the top finisher for the Red Raiders in 33rd. He covered the 8K course in a time of 26:49.3. Kade Parker was next to cross the line in 27:22.1 in 46th.
Valentino Julien stopped the clock in 27:39.3 to finish in 48th with teammate Brendan Devlin crossed the line in 53rd in a time of 27:59.5. Ray Jordan was the fifth Red Raider as he placed 63rd with a 28:51.3
The Red Raiders finished seventh as a team with 243 points. Lamar won the team race with 44 points.
