The Texas Tech baseball team's fall season is underway and throughout the remainder of the semester, Texas Tech Athletics Communications will take an inside look into the Tech program with Red Raider Profiles on each player.

Texas Tech's third baseman Reid Redman received perhaps the ultimate compliment from Red Raiders head coach Dan Spencer this fall when he said, "He is really the complete package for a college baseball player."
Some might wonder what "the complete package" for a college player is. Well, it is Reid Redman.
He led the Red Raiders in hitting, he is perhaps the best defensive third baseman to wear the Double-T for some time, and he is as good of a team leader as you will ever find.
Redman's first year as a Red Raider was memorable for many reasons. He led the team with six game-winning RBI, he was a human highlight reel at third base, he was named All-Big 12 honorable mention by the league's head coaches, he received first team Academic All-Big 12 and to top it all off, he was selected in the 37th round of the Major League Baseball First Year Players Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He was one of three Red Raiders to play in and start every game while starting every game at the hot corner at third base. He led the team batting .320 (64-for-200) with 37 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 34 RBI, 21 walks, 6-of-7 stolen bases and a .392 on-base percentage.
Redman put up impressive numbers in so many areas as a junior.
He made only one error in 27 Big 12 Conference games and made only one error in 25 games on the road or at a neutral site. He led the team batting .409 (38-for-93) with runners on base, which marked the highest batting average for a Red Raider with runners on base since 2006 (Roger Kieschnick - .422). Redman's .459 batting average (28-for-61) with runners in scoring position was the highest for a Red Raider since Cameron Blair hit .476 in 2004. He also led the team with eight bunt base hits, which were the most for a Tech player since current Oakland A's right-handed pitcher Dallas Braden tallied nine in 2004.
In addition, Redman had a pair of 19-game streaks without committing an error and posted just one error during a 39-game stretch (Feb. 20-Apr. 23) during the first two months of the season.
"Reid had a great year for us last year," four-year head coach Dan Spencer said. "He led our club in hitting and more importantly he is the best defensive third baseman in the conference. I haven't seen everyone in the country but he had to be one of the top two or three if not the best third baseman in the country, as for defense."
In addition, including Redman, this fall the Texas Tech baseball roster features six players who either played high school or junior college baseball from Midland, Texas.
