LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf program moved up to 20th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings Thursday following the Lady Raiders' second-place finish at the Susie Berning Maxwell Classic.
Tech is one of six Big 12 schools ranked among the top 25. The Lady Raiders moved up eight spots in the poll following their final-round charge up the leaderboard Tuesday where Tech came one stroke short of tying No. 25 Oklahoma for the tournament title.
In the individual rankings, Kim Kaufman was ranked 20th overall, the highest selection for any Big 12 player. Kaufman is coming off two-straight top-five finishes after a third-place showing at the Windy City Collegiate Championships on Oct. 3-4 and this week's second-place finish in Oklahoma. The junior opened the season in a tie for ninth at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Texas' Nicole Vandermade (No. 22) and Oklahoma State's Jayde Panos (No. 25) were the only other conference players picked in the top 30.
Gabby Dominguez moved to No. 72 overall following a 3-under final round Tuesday that pushed her all the way to third in the individual standings. The finish marked her second top-five performance this season as she wrapped the season-opening Ptarmigan Ram Classic in a tie for fifth.
The Lady Raiders will take just over a week off before returning to the links on Oct. 30 for the UTSA Alamo Invitational. The two-day tournament will take place at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.
