FORT WORTH, Texas - Texas Tech's Caroline Starck fell to the No. 1 overall seed, SMU's Marta Lesniak, 6-2, 6-3, at the ITA Texas Regionals held on the campus of Texas Christian University on Sunday.
"Caroline played well today, but was unable to finish off games and against a player of Lesniak's level, you cannot give her second chances," said Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty. "I cannot praise Caroline enough for the way she played over the entire weekend. She was truly a warrior and will be that way every time she steps on the court."
In doubles play, the team of Starck and Nikki Sanders fell to the third-seeded duo of Diana Nakic and Jordaan Sanford of Baylor in the quarterfinals.
