TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES Despite the loss, Texas Tech still maintains a 20-15 advantage in the overall series.
The loss marked Tech's 11th-straight to the Cyclones as the Red Raiders have not defeated Iowa State since Oct. 14, 2006 in Lubbock.
The Red Raiders are now 10-7 all-time when playing in Ames as Tech's last win came in a 3-1 victory on Sept. 25, 2004.
Tech was swept in the match for only the sixth time all season. The Red Raiders were also swept Wednesday night at Texas A&M.
The Red Raiders once again struggled giving up aces, surrendering six in the match. Tech has allowed 14 aces in its two matches this week as opposed to the 12 it had surrendered in its three previous contests.
Tech has posted numerous attempts in both matches against the Cyclones this year. In the Big 12 opener on Sept. 24, the Red Raiders totaled 122 swings, the most for a three-set match this year, while today Tech had 115 attempts, its fourth-highest three-set total.
The Red Raiders dropped to 1-9 on the year when trailing in blocks as Iowa State maintained a slight 9-8.5 advantage.
Tech also dropped to just 2-8 this season when recording a .200 or lower hitting percentage. The Red Raiders wrapped the match hitting .139 overall.
DOWDY POSTS ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN LOSS
Amanda Dowdy finished with 14 kills and 10 digs for her 19th double-double of the season and 32nd one of her career.
Dowdy has recorded a double-double in four of Tech's last five matches with the lone exception being Wednesday night at Texas A&M.
Dowdy has now led the Red Raiders in kills in all 11 Big 12 matches. She and Breeann David finished with 10 each against Baylor on Oct. 5 in the only match Dowdy did not have the lead to herself.
TEXAS TECH INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Brandy Huskey came off the bench for another fine performance, finishing with 11 digs, which marked the fourth time in the last five matches she has been in double digits.
Tory Vaughan, the reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, added 13 digs for the Red Raiders, marking the third-straight match she has led Tech in the category.
Aubree Piper continues to make an impact in the middle since her return prior to the Baylor match on Oct. 26. The sophomore finished with six kills in the match, giving her 21 over the last three contests to go along with a .259 hitting percentage.
Karlyn Meyers joined Piper for the team lead in blocks with five total. It marked the first time the senior had even a share of the team high this season.
