LUBBOCK, Texas - The second annual Texas Tech baseball alumni weekend was kicked off with a dinner for over 50 former Red Raider alums and their families at the baseball clubhouse Friday evening.
Many laughs and stories were told throughout the evening while third-year head coach Dan Spencer opened the evening addressing the crowd before former Tech head coach Kal Segrist (1968-1983 - head coach) spoke to the former players. Also in attendance Friday evening was former Tech head coaches Gary Ashby (1984-1986) and legendary head coach Larry Hays (1987-2008).
Gates open at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning and alumni action begins at noon with the "Old Timers' Game" followed by the alumni game at 1 p.m. Admission is $1 for all fans with all proceeds going to benefit the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research.
Last season, in the inaugural alumni game, the Red Raiders defeated the alums, 21-1. Pitching for Tech last season was Bobby Doran, who this season will be toeing the rubber for the alums after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the Houston Astros.
Also facing his former teammates will be right-handed pitcher Chad Bettis, who went in the second round last year to the Colorado Rockies.
Fans and alums who are not able to attend the game but would like to keep up with all the action will be able to at texastech.com, and going to the Texas Tech Baseball Gameday Central page where a live blog will capture all of the action as it happens all day on Saturday.

10:00 a.m. - Alumni Team Batting Practice
10:50 a.m. - Texas Tech Batting Practice (cages)
10:00 a.m. - Gates Open - Admission $1 - donation to the Burkhart Center
11:00 a.m. - Alumni Infield
Noon - "Old Timers' Game" - 2 Innings
12:50 p.m. - Texas Tech Infield
1:00 p.m. - Alumni Game
4:00 p.m. - Autograph Session/Alumni Group Photo
