No. 21 Red Raiders Face Oklahoma State on Sunday

LUBBOCK, Texas - With just two home matches remaining, the No. 21 Texas Tech men's tennis team hosts Oklahoma State on Sun., April 3, at 1 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.

After dropping its Big 12 opener last Sunday to then No. 16 Baylor, 4-3, the Red Raiders look to rebound against the Cowboys. Tech enters the match with a 13-6 overall record, while OSU is 3-8 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12.
Tech's top two players, juniors Gonzalo Escobar and Raony Carvalho, are ranked 20th and 23rd, respectively, in the country - two of the three highest ranked singles players in the Big 12 Conference, in the latest ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) rankings released on Tuesday. Escobar posts a 24-11 overall record and is 12-6 in duals this spring at No. 1 singles, while Carvalho owns a 21-2 overall record and is a perfect 17-0 in duals at No. 2. Tech's top tandem of Carvalho and junior Rafael Garcia are ranked 26th nationally and are 10-9 overall and 9-8 this spring in duals. Escobar and sophomore Vitor Manzini climbed into the rankings this week at No. 46. The duo owns a 12-7 record in duals at No. 2 and are 13-8 overall this school year.
On Sunday, doubles play will begin promptly at 1 p.m., followed by singles action. Free food, t-shirts and prizes will be given away during the match.
