Tech Competes at Payton Jordan Cardinal

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 5 Red Raiders and No. 9 Lady Raiders track & field team completed its long weekend with competition at the Payton Jordan Cardinal in Palo Alto, Calif.
Shade Weygandt cleared 13'-7.25" (4.15M) to place second at the Payton Jordan Cardinal. Boston Spiva placed fifth on the men's side clearing 15'-9" (4.80M).
Gilbert Limo ran an 8:54.01 in the 3000M steeplechase at the Payton Jordan. He was 18th in section one of the race.
In the 800M, Caroline Jepleting crossed the line in eighth place in a time of 2:07.78.
Michelle Guzman finished in 25th of the 5000M in a time of 17:40.29.
Accolades from the Penn Relays were announced and senior Omo Osaghae was named the College Men's Athlete of the Meet for Individual Events. His 13.35 winning time in the 110M hurdles is the second-fastest time ran at the Penn Relays.
A few student-athletes went to the Mean Green Twilight Invitational yesterday in Denton, Texas. The throwers crew had a productive day.
Ifeatu Okafor threw a personal-best mark of 55'-8.50" (16.98M) to win the women's shot put. It is the fourth-best throw in school history. The distance puts her at No. 11 in the NCAA. Kelly Closse was second with a throw of 51'-9.25" (15.78M).
Closse won the women's discus with a personal best of 173'-7" (52.92M). She is now No. 21 in the NCAA. Okafor placed third with a mark of 168'-1" (51.24M).
Julian Wruck placed second in the men's discus with a mark of 196'-8" (59.94M).
Devin Bailey won the women's 800M with a time of 2:12.29 at the Mean Green Invitational.
