Edwards Named Preseason All-Big 12 First Team

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced the 2011 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team, chosen by media representatives who cover the league, with senior offensive lineman Lonnie Edwards picking up his fifth preseason honor as he was selected to the first team. The team was announced today in advance of next week's Big 12 Conference Media Day at the Westin Galleria.
Edwards, a Brownsboro native, has started 23 games in his career and earned All-Big 12 second-team honors last season. The 6-foot-4, 320 pound lineman will anchor the line at left guard.
The Red Raiders are coming off an 8-5 season that was capped off with a win at the TicketCity Bowl over Northwestern. Texas Tech will open its season by hosting Texas State on Sat., Sept. 3 at Jones AT&T Stadium. For ticket information fans can call 806-742-TECH (8324) or visit www.texastech.com.
