LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golfers Hannah Arnold and Gabby Dominguez both competed in the Texas State Amateur Championship this week with both players advancing to the match play portion of the tournament.
Dominguez, a junior-to-be, advanced all the way to the quarterfinal round before bowing out early Thursday to Susannah Grunden. The Chilton, Texas native had previously topped Cindy Gilkeson and Alex Neal in the opening two rounds of match play.
Arnold, meanwhile, was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday as she fell in the round of 16 to Courtney Radford. The soon-to-be sophomore defeated Kristen Hendrix in the opening round.
Both players were among the top 10 in the tournament's qualifying round on Monday as Dominguez finished in fifth following a 3-over 75 while Arnold trailed two strokes back in ninth place with a 5-over 77.
The Texas State Amateur Championship is hosted annually by the Women's Texas Golf Association. The tournament is being held this year at the Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club in Montgomery.
