LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's basketball head coach Billy Gillispie and the Red Raider basketball team will host a pair of community outreach camps at Premier Sportsplex (9000 Memphis Drive) on Saturday.
The camps are for children in grades one through six. The first camp is slated for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the second came is from noon to 2 p.m. Cost for the camp is $10 and each participant will receive a camp t-shirt. To register, call Premier Sportsplex at (806) 771-4263 or sign up on Saturday morning.
These outreach camps are designed to provide an opportunity for local youth to receive basketball instruction from current and former players, as well as the Texas Tech coaching staff.
The focus of the camp is on the fundamentals of the game - passing, shooting, dribbling, defense, and playing together.
"This is another opportunity for Texas Tech Basketball to support the youth of our community," said Gillispie. "Along with teaching the fundamentals of the game, we strive to be an example for being successful in everyday life."
This is the sixth outreach camp hosted by Gillispie and the Red Raiders in the Lubbock area this summer.
