
No. 20 Lady Raiders Win Ruidoso Open

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 20 Texas Tech women's cross country team started the season with a good win at the Texas Tech Ruidoso Open as the team took the top five places individually.
This was a great start to the season for the men's and women's teams," head coach Jon Murray said after the race. "I was especially proud of several of the women who are breaking into our top five runners who had big personal bests from last year on this course. The race shows we have some work ahead of us but I am proud of the effort the entire team is showing in our training."
Rose Tanui led the way for the Lady Raiders running the course in 17:38.20. Not far behind was teammate Caroline Jepleting as she crossed the line in a 17:45.00. Purity Biwott placed third with her time of 18:03.20 and Devin Bailey finished in fourth in a 18:14.80. Coming through in fifth place was Rachel Folan in a time of 18:32.50.
The Lady Raiders won the team race with a perfect 15 points.
The Red Raiders were beat by Eastern New Mexico with Tech having 35 points compared to Eastern New Mexico's total of 24.
Brendan Devlin was the top finisher for the Red Raiders as he was second in a time of 22:12.30. Valentino Julien was right behind Devlin in third in a 22:16.10.
Kory Mauritsen crossed the line in seventh with a 22:34.70 while Payton Northup (22:45.80) and Kade Parker (22:47.90) were 11th and 12th, respectively.
