No. 42 Texas Tech Upsets No. 23 Ole Miss

Lubbock,Texas - The No. 42 Texas Tech Lady Raiders came from behind to get the upset win over No. 23 Ole Miss, 4-3 Saturday, at the Lubbock Country Club.
"It was an unbelievable win," head coach Todd Petty said. "The crowd was amazing and for us to win the match after being down a doubles point against a quality team just shows the amount of grit this team has."
This victory ties Tech's record for biggest win over a ranked team. The Lady Raiders beat No. 23 Texas last year.
Ole Miss started off strong against Tech winning the doubles point at the No. 1 and 2 positions. No. 4 Kristi Boxx and Abby Guthrie got the win over No. 45 Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo, 8-6, at the number 1 doubles spot. Tech's Elizabeth Ullathorne and Rashmi Teltumbde dropped Julia Jones and Caroline Rohde-Moe at the No. 3 spot, 8-3. Erin Stephens and Gabby Rangel got the victory and Ole Miss the doubles point by beating Caroline Starck and Nikki Sanders, 8-6, at the No. 2 position.
Lady Raider Adams couldn't get the first point for Tech losing to No. 12 Boxx, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot. Tech's Starck got a solid win and Tech's first point of the match beating Stephens, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 3 position. Lady Raider Ullathorne lost to No. 54 Rohde-Moe at the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Tech's Teltumbde beat Guthrie, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 4 position. Kilgo got the tying point for the Lady Raiders defeating Vivian Vlaar, 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot.
It came down to the last match to see who would get the match victory.
Tech's Sanders held strong and dominated her competitor, Jones and got the win for the Lady Raiders, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 6 spot.
The Lady Raiders will face New Mexico State on Saturday, in Lubbock, Texas at the McLeod Tennis Center at 9 a.m.
