LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball program wrapped its spring season at the Lonestar College Showcase Saturday, facing several of the region's top programs at the Dallas Convention Center.
The Red Raiders finished the event 1-2 with wins an early win over UT-Arlington before suffering two separate two-set losses at the hands of Texas A&M and Arkansas.
The event marked Tech's final outing of the spring as the Red Raiders hosted a tournament of their own while also traveling for one at the University of New Mexico. Tech also split with UTEP last weekend in Ruidoso, N.M.
"The progress these athletes made this spring was tremendous," said Tech head coach Don Flora, who begins his second season in Lubbock next fall. "Our middles developed as a group and as a team we worked and grew defensively a ton. This spring phase of development was highlighted by numerous people raising their personal standards. We must continue to develop and learn during the summer phase."
Tech opens its 2012 season in late August with a tournament at Boston College. The full 2012 schedule will be released in the upcoming weeks.
