LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior golfer Kim Kaufman claimed the South Dakota Women's Amateur Championship title for the second-straight year Sunday after a 2-under 70 final round at the Brookings Country Club.
The final-round performance extended Kaufman's tournament lead to 14 strokes after starting the day with a eight-stroke advantage. The Clark, S.D. native was the only player in the 30-person field to shoot an under-par card in any of the three rounds.
The tournament victory marked the third time in the last four years Kaufman has claimed the top amateur event in her home state. She won the 2011 title by a nine-stroke advantage.
The event concluded another successful summer for Kaufman, who advanced to the match play semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship before finishing third at the Royale Cup Canadian Amateur Championship in late July.
She is one of at least five Lady Raiders from last year's NCAA Regional team that is expected to return this fall to start the 2012-13 season.
