TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES• Texas Tech improved to 4-0 all-time against Bryant as the Red Raiders have now outscored the Bulldogs, 35-3, all-time in the series.
• Texas Tech and Fairfield were meeting for the first time in school history. The two teams will face each other again Friday morning to open the San Diego State Classic.
• The Red Raiders were able to extend their winning streak to seven-straight with two wins today. It is the longest winning streak so far this season.
• During the seven-game winning streak, Texas Tech has won by an average of 8.57 runs per game. The Red Raiders came into today having run-ruled each of their last five opponents.
• Texas Tech improved to 7-3 this year in neutral-site games and 44-14 under fourth-year head coach Shanon Hays.
• Fairfield's two runs in the first marked only the fourth time this year where the opposing team has scored in the opening frame.
• Texas Tech's three home runs today move its season total to 37 through 29 games. The Red Raiders had only 29 home runs at this point a year ago before finishing with a school-record 66 long balls.
Shanon Hays
• Hays improved to 256-75 for his career and 142-59 while at Texas Tech with two wins today.
• The Red Raiders improved to 117-25 under Hays against non-conference opponents.
Mikey Kenney
• Kenney set a new career high for hits as she went 4-for-5 against Fairfield with three RBI, all of which that came off a three-run double in the fifth inning. It was Kenney's 11th multiple-hit game this year and sixth time with two or more RBI.
Sandy James
• James extended her hitting streak to 11-straight games as she went 1-for-3 against Bryant and then 1-for-5 against Fairfield with a sixth-inning solo home run. It was James' fifth home run this season and the 32nd for her career.
Shelby Johnson
• Johnson continued her reached-base streak as she went 1-for-3 against Bryant and then 2-for-5 against Fairfield. It is the longest such streak to start a season for a Red Raiders since Emily Bledsoe reached safely in each of the first 34 games in 2011.
• Johnson also was able to extend her hitting streak to seven-straight games, her longest of the season.
Katelyn Williams
• Williams went 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBI against Bryant as she had a two-run single in the first and then a two-run homer in the fourth inning. It was Williams' sixth home run already this year, five more than she had her entire 2012 freshman season.
Sydnie Tapia
• Tapia tied the game against Fairfield with a two-run homer in the third. It was Tapia's second home run this season as she also went deep Feb. 22 at Texas State.
Brittany Talley
• Talley went a full seven innings for the first time this season against Bryant as she limited the Bulldogs to just seven hits in a complete-game effort. It was the 17th complete game of her career, moving her into a tie for eighth all-time with Sarah Losleben (2005-08).
