The women's race is set to begin at 10 a.m., with the men's to follow, at 11 a.m.
"On the women's side, there about four teams that will be separated by just a few points," Texas Tech head coach Jon Murray said. "It will be solely up to who can perform on that day. I'm really excited about what the women could potentially do this weekend."
The Lady Raiders will be searching for their fourth Big 12 team title in seven years, led by their 1-2 punch of Sharlene Nickle and Jocelyn Caro, who have combined for two wins, six top-five finishes and finished in the top 15 of each race in which they have competed, in 2014.
"They've been great," Murray said. It's exciting to see them compete well together, work hard and help each other out. They'll be formidable this weekend. They'll go in there and compete with the best the conference has to offer."
The Lady Raiders will look to improve on last year's eighth-place team finish, which was spearheaded by Nickle, who took 13th individually, earning All-Big 12 honors.
On the men's side, the Red Raiders are coming off a fifth-place team finish--a program-best--in 2013. Although they have lost their three top finishers from the 2013 race, Texas Tech has a young team that has shown a lot of promise in 2014. Tech is led by sophomore Evans Tuitoek, who has earned top-five finishes in three of the five races in which he has competed this season, including an individual title at the Red Raider Open.
"On the men's side, every week is a new opportunity," Murray said. "They've been learning quite a bit in our workouts, and we're improving with each meet. This is another opportunity for them to compete and gain experience at a meet of this caliber."
