HEAD COACH Kliff Kingsbury
On freshman QB winning the game...
"He's got a lot of competitive spirit. He always thinks he's going to win and he thinks he's the best player every time he goes out there. The one interception was a bad call on me throwing that out and then once again when we fumbled bad play called. I thought he protected it well. He extended a bunch of plays and I'm very proud of how he carried himself. "
On QB Patrick Mahome's progression... "It's big. This isn't an easy place to play. Everybody questioned the motivation coming in here. Crown, weather, and I'm just proud of the way he handled himself."
On winning... "The second half the entire season we have done very poor. I don't know what it is exactly because I haven't wanted to look at it but to hang around and just get it done, I'm just proud of that group."
On the feeling in the locker room...
"They were really excited for DeAndre (Washington) we had a good celebration for him hitting 1,000 yards. Great energy the entire night. That was a big question on how they were going to be motivated. It's a prideful group and we've been disappointed all year. They know that and it was a great chance to show people we have some character in that locker room."
RUNNING BACK DeAndre Washington
On the offensive line and 1,000 yards...
"Man the offensive line did a magnificent job. Feels good even more so since we got the win. They came to me at about week six saying I was going to get to 1,000. I took it one game at a time, but it definitely feels good"
On the fake punt...
"We have been practicing that play for months waiting to run it. I think Kenny should have scored, but it was a good play though. It brought a lot of energy to the sideline. When you are on the road, you have to bring your own energy."
On the win
"That's why you play D-1 football, especially going on the road against a Big 12 team. Any Big 12 environment is tough and Iowa State is second to none. We knew it was going to be a good game going back and forth. It was going to be a battle and come down to whoever had the ball last."
Wide Receiver Devin Lauderdale
         On QB Patrick Mahomes:
"Patrick has been showing up and showing out at practice. He has been stepping up as a leader even though he is young. We have been getting closer and closer every day. We have been working on our timing and he tells me what he likes and what he doesn't like."
On the touchdowns...
"Just catch the ball and make a play. Playmakers make plays and that is what they consider me as."
