Texas Tech Season Opener Postponed Until Friday

HAMMOND, La. - The Texas Tech softball season opener set for Thursday evening at Southeastern Louisiana has been cancelled due to cold and rainy conditions around the Hammond, La. area.
The Red Raiders, who were set to take on the host Lions at 5 p.m. this evening, will instead open their season Friday afternoon with a 3 p.m. first pitch against Akron. It will be the first game of a doubleheader as Tech will also face Nicholls State immediately after in a 5 p.m. scheduled start.
The Lions Classic schedule for the rest of the weekend will remain the same with Tech facing Buffalo and UMKC on Saturday and then Texas Southern on Sunday.
Texas Tech and Southeastern Louisiana officials are currently working to determine a date and time to reschedule tonight's season opener.
