
Texas Tech Cross Country Sends Four to South Plains Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech cross country will send four student-athletes to compete at the South Plains Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 24, in Levelland, Texas.
The women's 5K is set to begin at 10 a.m., with the men's 8K following at 10:30 a.m. It will be the final opportunity to compete before the Big 12 Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Freshman Jared Mayoral has competed in three of the four meets for the Red Raiders this season. This will be his second 8K of the season, his first coming at the Chile Pepper Festival, where he paced to a time of 26:45.4.
On the women's side, freshman Alyssa Weaver has run at both the Texas Tech Open and the ACU Invitational this season. At the ACU Invite, she finished just outside the top 15 in the 5K at 20:39.1.
Also competing at the ACU Invitational were freshman Kirsten Redweik and Kaylee Amershek. In their only meet of the 2015 season, the duo picked up top 20 finishes behind times of 22:34.2 and 23:31.4, respectively.
The quartet will get their final opportunity to compete before the Big 12 Championships when races begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
