Red Raider Cross Country Wraps Final Pre-Conference Meet

LEVELLAND, TEXAS - Three members of the Texas Tech cross country squad competed in their final regular season meet on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the South Plains Invitational in Levelland, Texas.
Running in his second 8K of the season, freshman Jared Mayoral improved his time from the Chile Pepper Festival, pacing to a mark of 26:41.12. His time gave him a seventh-place finish among the field of competitors.
Freshman Kaylee Amershek and Kirsten Redweik represented the women's team on Saturday. Amershek finished with a time of 20:06.75, en route to a seventh-place finish. Redweik followed closely behind with a mark of 20:32.13 in 12th-place. Both times were seasonal-bests.
The Big 12 Cross Country Championships are a week away and will be held in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the OSU Cross Country course. The men's 8K is set to begin at 10 a.m., with the women's 6K following at 11 a.m.
