LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech cross country begins postseason action on Friday, Nov. 13, at the 2015 NCAA Mountain Regional Cross Country Championships at the UNM North Golf Course in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The women's 6K will begin at 1 p.m. CT, while the men's 10K is slated for a 2 p.m. CT start time.
The Texas Tech women's team will be led by junior Jocelyn Caro, who navigated the same course last year to a 14th-place finish at 21:36.97, earning All-Region accolades. Her time at the meet last season was her second-fastest career mark in 6K to that point in the season.
This year, Caro has already eclipsed that mark twice, recording a personal-best of 20:01.2 at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. At the 2015 Big 12 Championships, she racked up All-Big 12 honors behind a seventh-place finish at 21:04.2. She was the first All-Big 12 winner since Sharlene Nickle in 2013. It was also the first top 10 finish since Caroline Jepleting's 2011 championship winning race.
Caro will be joined by Katy Allen, Kelly McQuaid, Maggy Mulholland, Rianna Randolph, Hattie Schunk and Jasmine Torres in the women's 6K on Friday.
It will be the first time the men's team has run a 10K this season. Competing in three 8K races in 2015, sophomore Miguel Bautista has paced to the team's best finish in two, including the Big 12 Championships two weeks ago. In that race, he finished just outside the top 25 behind a time of 25:26.0.
The other leader for the Red Raider men's team this season is sophomore Evans Tuitoek, who followed closely behind Bautista at the conference meet at 25:49.1. His fastest time in the 8K this season came at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational behind a mark of 24:18.3.
Bautista and Tuitoek will run alongside Clark Blunt, Kory Mauritsen, Todd Mickey, Ebenether Wondaferew and Joacim Zuniga to represent the Texas Tech men's squad in Albuquerque.
