Texas Tech (6-5, 3-5 Big 12) enters its Thanksgiving contest following its first off week of the year. The Red Raiders are bowl eligible for the 23rd time in the last 25 years after claiming their sixth victory of the season, a 59-44 Senior Day home win over Kansas State on Nov. 14. The six wins are two more victories than Texas Tech totaled during the 2014 season. Earlier in the year, the Red Raiders played one of the nation's most difficult three-game stretches that included a win at previously ranked Arkansas and back-to-back losses to consecutive top-5 ranked teams in No. 3 TCU (55-52 loss at home) and No. 5 Baylor (63-35 loss at AT&T Stadium in Arlington). It marked the first time in school history that Texas Tech faced two consecutive nationally ranked top-five teams in back-to-back weeks.
In Texas, Texas Tech faces its ninth and final Big 12 opponent of the year and plays its 1,011th all-time football game as the Red Raiders own a 550-428-32 all-time football record in 91 total seasons. The Red Raiders have accumulated 55 winning seasons and advanced to 36 bowl games.
Texas enters Thursday's game after claiming wins in three of its last four matchups including victories against Kansas (59-20 on Nov. 7), Kansas State (23-9 on Oct. 24) and No. 10 Oklahoma (24-17 on Oct. 10). The Longhorns' lone loss during that stretch was a 24-0 loss at Iowa State on Oct. 31.
