LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's tennis team will compete in its only home event of the fall season over the weekend at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Lady Raiders will take on Boise State, Kansas and South Florida in a hidden dual format. All three days of the Texas Tech Tournament will feature one round of doubles and two singles rounds beginning at 10 a.m. each day.
"We had an extremely successful regional tournament the last time we competed and are looking to build on that performance," Texas Tech head coach Todd Petty said. "This weekend will be the only opportunity to play on our home court in the fall, and it's important that we finish our fall season on a strong note."
Last time out, Tech had five singles players and three doubles teams reach the Round of 16 at the ITA Texas Regionals. Lynn Kiro and Alex Valenstein secured the doubles title, while Kiro and Sabrina Federici reached the quarterfinal round of the singles draw. The doubles crown enabled Kiro and Valenstein to qualify for next week's USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships held in New York.
The quartet of Katelyn Jackson, Felicity Maltby, Gabriela Talaba and Valenstein have posted a combined 28-7 mark in singles action during the fall season.
