Seven Red Raiders Set For USA Volleyball Tryouts

LUBBOCK Texas -- Seven Texas Tech volleyball players will be attending the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, which are taking place Feb. 20-22 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Lauren Douglass, Carlie Foust, Marguerite Grubb, Nicole Hragyil, Mikia Mills, Meghan Stacy and Alyssa Ybanez are among 238 athletes from 93 colleges and universities participating in the tryout.
At stake for the players is a chance to be a part of the U.S. Women's National Team, U.S. Collegiate National Teams program and U.S. Junior National Team. If selected for the U.S. Women's National Team, training begins in Anaheim, Calif., as early as the spring of 2015.
If selected to the U.S. National team, players could join an elite group of Red Raiders who have played for the national team in recent years, including Amanda Dowdy, Rachel Brummitt and Breeann David.
Live coverage of the tryouts begins on Friday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. MST. Tryouts include Queen of the Court competitions Friday. Focus on serve/receive and individual work and middle-centered and out-of-system drills will be on Saturday. Tryouts conclude Sunday with tournament style play.
