Gutierrez, Red Raiders Receive Additional Honors

Gutierrez has received three preseason All-America honors and a pair of preseason Big 12 Player of the Year honors.
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech baseball Opening Day is still 10 days away, but several Red Raiders have continued receiving preseason honors, including junior first baseman Eric Gutierrez who has been named preseason second team All-America and preseason Big 12 Player of the Year, according to D1Baseball.com.
Gutierrez has now received preseason All-America honors by three national publications, including Collegiate Baseball (1st Team), Perfect game (2nd Team) and D1Baseball.com (2nd Team). He has received a pair of preseason conference player of the year honors by Collegiate Baseball and D1Baseball.com.
Coming off an All-Big 12 first team sophomore season, Gutierrez batted .302 with 18 doubles, 12 home runs and 58 RBI in 2014.
Gutierrez and junior outfielder Tyler Neslony were recently named preseason All-Big 12 first team by Perfect Game.
D1Baseball.com also named its top prospects for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Major League Baseball Drafts as junior right-handed pitcher Matt Withrow (2015) was ranked No. 10 in the league, sophomore right-handed pitcher Ryan Moseley (2016) was tabbed No. 6 and sophomore left-handed pitcher Ty Damron was ranked the No. 13 prospect in the Big 12 for next year's draft.
Three Red Raider freshmen were ranked among the top freshmen in the league, including infielder/outfielder Tanner Gardner (No. 6), right-handed pitcher/outfielder Patrick Mahomes II (No. 7) and left-handed pitcher/first baseman Parker Mushinski (No. 20).
Perfect Game listed three Red Raiders as top prospects for upcoming MLB Drafts, including Withrow (No. 10 - 2015 Draft), Moseley (No. 7 - 2016 Draft) and Mahomes (No. 5 - 2017 Draft).
Texas Tech will host San Francisco on Opening Day, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13 at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock.

TEXAS TECH JUNIOR COLLEGE SIGNEES RECEIVE RECOGNITION
Texas Tech signed five junior college prospects during the early signing period in November and on Wednesday three of them were ranked among the "Top 100 Junior College Prospects" in the nation by Perfect Game. The following signees were honored:
- No. 3 RHP Chandler Eden (Yavapai College)
- No. 11 INF Blaine Prescott (Midland College)
- No. 90 LHP Hayden Howard (Seward County CC)
