LUBBOCK, Texas -- Nine current Texas Tech track & field athletes will compete at the U.S. Track & Field Championships, June 25-28, in Eugene, Ore.
This meet will serve as the qualifier for multiple high-level meets, including the IAAF World Outdoor Championships and Pan American Championships, both of which are set to take place later this summer.
Last year, this meet qualified multiple Tech athletes for the 2014 U-23 NACAC Championships, where Cierra White took three gold medals and earned the honor of being named the U.S. Track & Field Association (USATF) Athlete of the Week.
JaCorian Duffield and Bradley Adkins return to Hayward Field, where just two weeks ago, they became the first pair of teammates to place first and second in the outdoor high jump since 1939, completing their quest to become the first teammates in NCAA history to go 1-2 at both the indoor and outdoor NCAA meets.
They will be joined by Trey Culver, who will jump in the juniors division, fresh off his 11th-place performance two weeks ago. Red Raider middle distance runner Todd Mickey will also compete in the junior circuit.
Joseph Richards III is entered in the 400 meter dash, a race in which he had a top-10 collegiate time for most of the outdoor season.
On the women's side, first team All-American Cierra White will look to qualify in the sprints, and Paetyn Revell, coming off earning honorable mention All-American honors two weeks ago, will compete in the triple jump.
NCAA javelin runner-up Hannah Carson will compete in the her signature event, and Shanice Stewart, who earned All-American honors in both the indoor long jump and indoor pentathlon, will also make the trip to Eugene.
The majority of the meet will be broadcast by NBC and its affiliates. There will be a usatf.tv livestream all four days, but NBC Sports Network will provide coverage from 9-11 p.m. on Friday. NBC will broadcast the event from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday.
