LUBBOCK, Texas - Following a sensational run through the NCAA Men's Tennis Individual Championships, Hugo Dojas and Felipe Soares find themselves ranked among the top in the Oracle/ITA Final Rankings released on Wednesday afternoon.
Jumping nine spots, Soares finishes the year at No. 28 after earning All-America honors in both the singles and doubles and becoming the first Red Raider to ever advance into the quarterfinal round of the singles championship bracket.
On the doubles side, Dojas and Soares (18-8) entered the NCAA Championship as the 22nd-best team in the nation but soared up the ranks into the No. 11 spot after making a run all the way into the doubles final before falling to Texas' Soren Hess-Olesen and Lloyd Glasspool in three sets for the national title.
The Longhorn duo finish the year ranked just five spots ahead of the Red Raiders in sixth while Baylor's Julian Lenz and Diego Galaeno come in as the top doubles team in the nation heading into the offseason.
Four of the top 11 doubles teams in the country are housed in the Big 12 Conference as Oklahoma's Axel Alvarez Llamas and Dane Webb hold down the No. 8 spot.
As a team, the Red Raiders garnered their second highest final ranking at No. 19 after a season, which included upsetting then-No. 1 Oklahoma and advancing to the program's 14th NCAA Tournament.
