Texas Tech is coming off a historic season which saw the Lady Raiders register a single season school record 21 wins, the program's first trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 and the program's highest final ITA national ranking (No. 16). The Lady Raiders have secured four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances under Petty, a program first for Texas Tech.
In total, the Lady Raiders will play 13 matches at the McLeod Tennis Center where Texas Tech has produced a dominant 62-12 mark in seven seasons and have won 50 of their last 55 decisions since 2011 with Petty at the helm.
"Our schedule will present us with a mix of challenges and quality opponents from our opening match through the final Big 12 match to enable our program to return to the NCAA Tournament," Petty said. "Our nonconference schedule will prepare us and provide us outstanding balance against the variety of opponents we will see in order to be successful in an always-tough Big 12 conference."
Tech will play host to the Texas Tech Tournament to conclude the fall season (Nov. 6-8) and will open its spring schedule at the Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational (Jan. 5-7) where the Lady Raiders will take on host Hawaii along with Missouri and Washington State.
Texas Tech will begin its home spring slate as a host site for the 2016 ITA Kickoff Weekend (Jan. 23-24) which features Illinois, Oregon and Virginia Tech. It marks the first time in program history that the Lady Raiders will host the ITA Kickoff Weekend at McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas Tech squares off with Fresno State (Jan. 30), Abilene Christian (Jan. 30), Washington (Feb. 6), BYU (Feb. 19), DePaul (March 23) and Northwestern (March 25) in nonconference home action. Both DePaul and Northwestern notched opening round victories at the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
The Lady Raiders meet up with Wisconsin (Feb. 12), Tulane (Feb. 13), Houston (March 11) and Rice (March 12) on the road in nonconference play.
Texas Tech's nine-match Big 12 schedule features home dates with TCU (March 19), Kansas State (April 1), Kansas (April 3) and Texas (April 8) in addition to road tilts at defending Big 12 champion Baylor (April 10), Oklahoma State (April 15), Oklahoma (April 17), Iowa State (April 22) and West Virginia (April 24). The Big 12 Championships will be hosted by Oklahoma State from April 28-May 1.
