IRVING, Texas -- Texas Tech junior middle blocker Lauren Douglass has been named to the 2015 Preseason All-Big 12 Volleyball Team, the conference office announced today.
Douglass enjoyed a breakout season in 2014, winning tournament MVP awards at two of Tech's first four tournaments. She was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1, becoming the first Red Raider in program history to win the award. She was also named Big 12 Co-Rookie of the week on Sept. 22.
Douglass ranked second on the team with 272 kills and finished ninth in the Big 12 with a .303 hitting percentage, but had more kills and swings than anyone else in the top 10. For her exploits, she was one of three Red Raiders to be named All-Big 12 honorable mention.
Douglass is the first Red Raider to earn preseason All-Big 12 honors since Miara Cave, in 2012.
Texas Tech volleyball begins its 2015 campaign on Aug. 28 at the Texas Tech Fall Invitational, at the United Supermarkets Arena.
