Texas Tech Cross Country Primed for ACU Open

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech cross country returns to action on Friday, Sept. 18, at the Abilene Christian Open at Sherrod Park in Abilene, Texas.
The women's 5K race begins at 6 p.m., while the men's 6K will follow at 6:30 p.m.
Sherrod Park - also known as the Wildcat Disc Golf Course - is located a mile southwest of campus at the corner of E N 10th Street and Cedar Crest Drive behind the Smith-Adams Residence Hall.
This will be the second meet for the Red Raiders this season, after opening the season two weeks ago at the Texas Tech Open in Ruidoso, New Mexico. The women's team picked up dual victories over New Mexico State (16-45), New Mexico (17-45) and Wayland Baptist (15-50). The men's squad also recorded wins against New Mexico State (21-35), New Mexico (16-40) and Wayland Baptist (18-45).
On the women's side, freshman Hattie Schunk posted the top time for the Red Raiders in the 4523-meter run at 17:29.00. Her mark gave her a third-place finish among all competitors from the five universities.
Junior Evans Tuitoek led the way for the men's team, picking up an eighth-place time of 21:11.48 in the 6195-meter run. Following closely behind was sophomore Miguel Bautista with a ninth-place mark at 21:12.61.
The Red Raiders look to build off their strong opening meet when they hit the course on Friday night in Abilene.
