Texas Tech Cross Country Set to Open 2015 Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raider cross country 2015 campaign begins on Friday, Sept. 4, when they host the Texas Tech Open in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
The Red Raiders will compete against New Mexico State, UTEP, Wayland Baptist and New Mexico in the season opener. The women's race is set to begin at 4 p.m. CT, with the men's race to follow shortly after.
The Ruidoso fitness trail is located behind US Forest Service Ranger Station on the corner of Mechem Drive and Cedar Creek Road.
Leading the way for the Red Raiders on the men's team is senior Nick Rivera and junior Evans Tuitoek. The duo turned in the top two times by Tech runners at each race they competed in last season, including first and second place finishes by Tuitoek at the Red Raider Open and Texas A&M Invitational, respectively. They also recorded top 50 times at the Big 12 Championships in Lawrence, Kansas.
On the women's side, Tech will call upon junior Jocelyn Caro to lead the pack this season. The El Paso, Texas, native posted two first-place times last season at the UTEP-NM State-Texas Tech Triangular and the Red Raider Open. She ended the year with a top 15 finish at the Mountain Region Championships in the 6k behind a time of 21:36.97, earning All-Region honors.
