Texas Tech Closes First Round in 12th Place

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech closed the opening round of the Landfall Tradition in 12th place after a 13-over-par 301 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The Lady Raiders, faced with a stacked field that includes 12 teams ranked in the top-40 of the latest Golfweek poll, are a stroke back of both Virginia and North Carolina in 10th place and four strokes behind South Carolina and Iowa in eighth place.

Big 12 counterpart Oklahoma raced out to the first-day lead following a 4-under 284 opening round that was four strokes better than second place Wake Forest. Purdue ended the day in third place at 3-over while Central Florida and top-ranked Alabama finished tied for fourth at 5-over and Furman and N.C. State were in sixth at 8-over overall.

Lauren Mason chipped in a 3-over card for Tech's second-lowest score of the day. Caralyn Barker was one stroke behind Mason while Sofia Garcia provided Tech's final score at 5-over. Gabby Barker, meanwhile, was 7-over to complete the Tech lineup.
