TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
• Texas Tech has now scored in 240-straight games dating back to the 1997 season, a streak that ranks 11th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference.
• This was Texas Tech's first overtime game since 2012, when the Red Raiders went to OT three times, going 2-1 in those games. Tech has now won three of its last four overtime games.
• Texas Tech's 345 yards of total offense marked its 60th-straight game with at least 325 yards of total offense, the longest active streak in the FBS.
• TCU's 24 points marked the third time this season Tech has held an opponent under 25 points.
• Texas Tech was held scoreless in the opening quarter for the first time this season. The Red Raiders were previously out-scoring opponents, 101-49, in the first quarter this year.
• Texas Tech failed to commit a penalty during the first half. It marked the fewest in a half for the Red Raiders since Tech committed just one penalty in the opening half last year against TCU. Texas Tech's first penalty did not come until 11:14 remaining in the fourth quarter.
• Texas Tech finished with just one penalty in the game, its fewest since committing the same amount against No. 5 Texas A&M in 1992.
• Texas Tech once again found success on third downs as the Red Raiders finished 10-of-20 overall. The Red Raiders are 30-of-55 on third downs over the past two weeks after finishing an impressive 20-of-25 last weekend versus Oklahoma.  Â
• Texas Tech is now 22-3 when leading or being tied at the half under head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
• Douglas Coleman snapped a three-game streak where Texas Tech failed to record a turnover with his interception with 1:55 remaining in the third quarter. Texas Tech had not previously recorded a turnover since Jah'Shawn Johnson picked off Kansas midway through the fourth quarter on Sept. 29.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
• A week after setting the NCAA FBS record for total offense, Patrick Mahomes II was held to just 245 yards of offense as he was 24-of-39 for 206 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed a career-high 20 times for 39 yards, including a 15-yard rushing TD in overtime. It marked just the second time this year where Mahomes did not throw for at least 300 yards.
• Reginald Davis III caught Texas Tech's first touchdown of the afternoon as he hauled in a 33-yard pass from Mahomes. It marked the 18th receiving touchdown of his career and his second in as many weeks.
• Clayton Hatfield connected on both of his field goals , including the game-winner from 37 yards. Hatfield is now 8-of-9 on field goals this season and 22-of-25 during his career.
• Da'Leon Ward had another good day leading the Red Raider rushing attack as the true freshman finished with season highs for carries (23) and yards (98). He also hauled in a season-high and team-high eight receptions for 49 yards.Â
• Douglas Coleman recorded his first career interception with 1:55 remaining in the third quarter as he picked off a Kenny Hill pass in the endzone.  Â
• Malik Jenkins equaled his career high in tackles, which he set a week ago against Oklahoma, with 14 (10 solo).
• Jordyn Brooks equaled his career high in tackles with 10 (3 solo). He previously notched 10 tackles at Arizona State.
• Justis Nelson, who already led the team on the season with six pass breakups, swatted three passes on the day, a season high for a Red Raider defender.
• The Red Raiders entered today ranked 90th nationally in third down conversion percentage defense, but held TCU to 5-of-15 on third down.
