Tech will also play in two tournaments in April: The Angelo State Tournament on Saturday, April 2, in San Angelo, and the Lone Star College Showcase in Dallas on April 23. Sandwiched in between the two tournaments will be a match against Wayland Baptist on Monday, April 11, at 6:15 p.m. in Plainview.
The Red Raiders return 12 student-athletes from last year's squad, including seniors Marguerite Grubb and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region honoree Lauren Douglass. Douglass set the school record in hitting percentage behind a clip of .377 last season, while also leading the team in kills (280), kills per set (2.95) and blocks (89). Grubb (1,007) became the first Red Raider since 2013 to record 1,000 assists in a single season. Coming into 2016, she only needs 21 assists to crack into the top 10 in career assists records at Texas Tech.
