Series Preview: No. 10 Texas Tech Welcomes San Diego State

? No. 10 Texas Tech closes a five-game homestand this weekend as the Red Raiders host San Diego State in a three-game series that begins Friday afternoon at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. Due to a chance of inclement weather, the series will feature 12 p.m. first pitches on Friday and Sunday and then an 11:30 a.m. start on Sunday.
? Texas Tech enters the San Diego State series with a 26-9 overall record, marking its best start to a season since the Red Raiders were 27-8 over the first 35 games of the 1999 campaign.
? The Red Raiders are currently in the midst of a 10-game stretch where Texas Tech will play eight of 10 games inside Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. Tech is currently 14-4 at home this season after wins in each of their past nine games.
? San Diego State will be making a return trip to Lubbock from Texas Tech's visit to the Aztecs in 2015. The Red Raiders took two-of-three games from the Aztecs as Tech overcame a 9-0 loss in the series opener before rebounding with 11-0 and 6-3 victories.
? This is San Diego State's first trip to Lubbock since the 2000 season when the Red Raiders swept the Aztecs thanks to a strong offensive weekend that had Tech scoring at least 11 runs in all three games.
? The Red Raiders are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Sam Houston State on Wednesday afternoon as Texas Tech opened with an 8-6 victory before routing the Bearkats, 20-3, in the finale. It marked Tech's most runs in a game since defeating Stephen F. Austin, 20-4, on March 18, 2014.
? Texas Tech heads into its open weekend on the Big 12 schedule atop the conference standings as the Red Raiders are 11-1 in league play with wins in each of their last 10 games. It marks the best start to Big 12 play in school history and the best for a conference team since Baylor opened the 2012 league slate with 18-consecutive victories.
? The Red Raiders appear in all six of the major collegiate baseball polls this week as Texas Tech is ranked as high as 10th by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Tech also ranks 14th in polls conducted by D1Baseball and Perfect Game, 15th by Baseball America, 21st in the USA Today Coaches' and 23rd by NCBWA.

? Texas Tech and San Diego State will meet for the 13th time and the second-straight season Friday afternoon when the two teams open a three-game series. Tech first played San Diego State during the 1988 season, falling 11-4 on the road.
? Texas Tech boasts a 10-2 all-time record against the Aztecs which includes a perfect 3-0 mark in games played in Lubbock.
? This will be San Diego State's second trip to Lubbock in school history as the Aztecs were previously swept in a three-game series during the 2000 season. The Red Raiders scored in double digits all three games, recording 11-3, 14-6 and 11-2 victories.
