Men's Tennis Collects No. 11 ITA National Final Ranking

SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The Texas Tech men's tennis team garnered a No. 11 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Ranking in the final poll announced Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Red Raiders (28-6) spent the entire season ranked among the ITA's Top 20 for the first time in program history and the No. 11 final ranking is the highest in program history. The 2005 team secured a No. 12 final ranking.
Texas Tech racked up a program single-season record 28 victories and clinched a share of the program's first Big 12 regular season championship under Big 12 Co-Head Coach of the Year Brett Masi. The Red Raiders captured a quartet of wins over ITA Top 10 teams in 2016 which included No. 3 TCU, No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 7 Georgia and No. 10 Florida.
Tech is one of nation-leading five programs from the Big 12 to be ranked inside the ITA Top 20. The Big 12 and SEC made up half of the nation's Top 20 programs in the final poll. The Red Raiders were joined by Oklahoma State (13) and Texas (16) in addition to the previously mentioned No. 3 TCU and No. 6 Oklahoma from the Big 12.
Texas Tech is scheduled to return the bottom four members of its singles lineup fueled by Jolan Cailleau and Alex Sendegeya, a pair of 2016 All-Big 12 Second-Team selections. Connor Curry and Bjorn Thomson combined with Cailleau and Sendegeya for 78 of the team's 112 singles wins in dual matches.
