Douglass Garners Preseason All-Big 12 Honor

Texas Tech volleyball senior Lauren Douglass racked up her second preseason All-Big 12 accolade.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech senior middle blocker Lauren Douglass has been named to the 2016 Preseason All-Big 12 Volleyball Team, the league announced today.

It is the second-straight preseason honor for the Flower Mound, Texas, native.

Douglass put together a phenomenal 2015 campaign, finishing the year as the most efficient single-season attacker in Texas Tech history with a hitting percentage of .377. She hit .400 or better in 13 matches during the season, notching a season-high .688 against Columbia on Sept. 4. Her averages also ranked among three of the top four single-match attack percentages in the Big 12.

Her efficiency translated to the team-lead in total kills (280) and kills per set (2.95). She led the team in kills in 13 different matches, tallying a career-high of 20 against Portland State on Sept. 18. She also led Tech at the line blocking with 19 solo and 70 assisted blocks for 89 total in 2015.

She was recognized with her second consecutive All-Big 12 Second Team award last season, as well as All-Southwest Region Honorable Mention honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

Douglass and the Red Raiders begin practice for the fall on Tuesday, Aug. 9, in preparation for the 2016 season. Tech will play in the annual Red & Black match on Saturday, Aug. 20, with the season starting on the road at the Portland State Tournament on Aug. 26-27. The first home match is slated for Monday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. against UTEP.
