Texas Tech Set for Annual Celebrate Cotton Game Saturday

Fans are encouraged to wear white for Saturday’s Celebrate Cotton Game versus Louisiana Tech
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will continue its partnership with the Texas High Plains cotton industry on Saturday when the Red Raiders host Louisiana Tech in the fifth-annual Celebrate Cotton Game. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. inside Jones AT&T Stadium.

As part of the game, the Red Raiders will wear white uniforms as Texas Tech is calling for a "White Out" of Jones AT&T Stadium. Fans are encouraged to wear white in support of the Red Raiders and to celebrate the cotton industry.

Fans attending Saturday's game will notice several cotton-themed displays as 56 cotton bales, weighing 500 pounds each, will line each entrance while Hurst Farm Supply and Wylie Implement farm equipment will be displayed around the stadium. In addition, sponsors will give away thousands of t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lubbock is the Cotton Capital of the United States as connections to the industry and Texas Tech University run deep. Lubbock County is the nation's top cotton-producing area while Texas is the country's top cotton-producing state. The High Plains area alone produces two-thirds of all Texas cotton and cottonseed.

Cotton growers on the High Plains produce, on average, four million bales per year which is roughly two-thirds of the Texas cotton crop, one-third on the nation's crops and four percent of the world's cotton crop. On the Texas Tech campus, cotton is represented on the university seal and is studied thoroughly in research labs across university.
