Two seniors post a 2-1 record in pre-qualifying round

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The Texas Tech Women's Tennis team opened play at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships this weekend.

Seniors Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici opened play with a 2-0 record on Saturday. Dvorak took down Ohio State's Olivia Sneed in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) in the round of 64 while Federici defeated Aiwen Zhu (UNLV) 6-4, 6-2 to advance.

Dvorak battled with Mariana Gould (Georgia) during the Round of 32 taking the match in two sets, 6-4, 7-6 (2). Federici held her undefeated streak in the tournament with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Ole Miss' Tea Janric to close out Saturday play.

However, the two fell in the Round of 16 and missed a spot in the singles qualifying draw.

The pair earned a spot in the doubles main draw and will begin play on Thursday.
