BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Texas Tech football team kicked off its bowl week festivities on Tuesday, arriving in Alabama for the 2017 Birmingham Bowl.

The Red Raiders (6-6) take on South Florida (9-2) on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at Legion Field on ESPN. It will be the first meeting between the two programs on the football field, as Tech makes its second postseason appearance in Birmingham and the 38th overall bowl trip in program history.

After touch down in Birmingham, the Red Raiders and the Bulls were greeted to a welcome dinner from the Monday Morning QB Club. Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury and USF head coach Charlie Strong joined ESPN analysts for a Q&A to preview this year's bowl matchup.

On Wednesday, Tech will practice and meet with the media before a tour of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in the afternoon. On Thursday, the Red Raiders will visit the Children's of Alabama Hospital after bowl prep practice.

Fans traveling to the bowl game are encouraged to join the Red Raiders at the Uptown Street Fest & Pep Rally on Friday, Dec. 22, from 1-6 p.m., with the official Texas Tech Pep Rally beginning at 5 p.m.
